The HDMI-AV cable allows you to connect your Apple iPhone/iPad, Android phones (GENUINE APPLE ADAPTER REQUIRED), Chromecast/Firestick/Roku and other HDMI devices to any radio, video screen or TV that has analog audio and video inputs.
NOTE: The cable does not allow control from the monitor – all control is from the device. Apps that allow rotation can be viewed full-screen as well.
Full stereo audio output makes it the perfect solution for YouTube/Netflix/Amazon Prime or phone video playback in the vehicle.

- To test the input in your vehicle to insure our cable is compatible, connect another AV source such as a DVD player, camcorder, etc. to the RCA input connectors and switch to that source on your radio – if it displays properly and you can hear audio, then our cable will work! If your input shuts off when the vehicle is in motion, an override module may be available that allows video playback while in motion – please call 253-297-4570 to see if this is available for your vehicle.
- If your vehicle DOES NOT have RCA inputs, we carry numerous adapters that allow this functionality – please call 253-297-4570 to see if input adapters are available for your vehicle.
- THE USB INPUT ON THIS CABLE WILL ONLY POWER THE D/A CONVERTER IN THE CABLE – THIS CABLE DOES NOT CHARGE THE DEVICE. SOME DEVICES/ADAPTERS MAY REQUIRE THE USB CABLE TO BE CONNECTED – PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY!
- If you DO NOT connect the cable’s USB plug, the cable MAY still work, but it will draw power from the device to operate, draining the device faster than normal.
- If you connect the cable’s USB plug into a radio or USB power port, the cable will be powered from the USB, prolonging battery life in the device, but it will not charge the device.
- The only way to use the cable AND charge your device is to plug your standard charging cable (the one that came with your device) into a USB port then into the female charging port on the device’s HDMI adapter.
The HDMI-AV adapter cable is compatible with HDMI phone adapters and other HDMI devices like ROKU, DVD players etc. It outputs NTSC video signal and standard audio signal.
NOTE: The USB MALE PLUG MUST BE PLUGGED IN TO A USB SOURCE TO POWER THE CABLE. IT WILL NOT CONVERT THE VIDEO SIGNAL WITHOUT USB POWER. INSURE YOU HAVE A USB POWER SOURCE PRIOR TO ORDERING
If you are using the adapter to convert iPhone output, insure you are using a GENUINE APPLE HDMI converter. There are generic HDMI adapters being sold that claim to work on iPhone – the ONLY adapter guaranteed to work on iPhone with this adapter is the genuine Apple converter.
If you are using this adapter in a vehicle using the factory AUX input (for rear screen or radio display), you must verify the following:
- The AUX jack you are plugging into is actually an audio AND video input
- If it is an audio AND video jack, which format of input adapter does it use for video input
As shown below, there are at least two common arrangements for 3.5mm A/V input jacks and they differ in which band carries the right/left channels, video signal and the ground signal. You must insure that you are using the proper adapter for your particular vehicle’s input for this cable to work. Refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual or contact your dealer to insure you are using the correct adapter.
If you have what you think is the right 3.5mm adapter and still do not get audio/video output from the cable, connect the cable to a standard TV AV input to verify you are getting output.
ADC MOBILE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLYING ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROPER 3/5MM A/V ADAPTER FOR YOUR VEHICLE AND WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS BASED ON YOUR INABILITY TO SOURCE THE PROPER ADAPTER. 
The failure rate on this cable is EXTREMELY low – less than 1%. However, there are multiple variables that determine whether the converter cable will work in your situation and these variables must be tested either before or after you receive the converter to determine if you have a defective part.
We suggest using this troubleshooting guide to diagnose any issues you may have when using this converter cable:
- If using a phone as you HDMI source, use the phone’s factory HDMI adapter (not an aftermarket part) and test the output on your TV set’s HDMI input
- If you do not get output: verify your phone settings are correct, that the phone is capable of HDMI output and that the phone’s HDMI adapter is working
- If you get output on the HDMI adapter: plug in the converter cable to the AV inputs and USB input of your TV and test
- Once you verify the converter cable works on your TV, plug it into the vehicle with a USB power source and your 3.5mm A/V adapter
- If you do not get output: try using a different known good A/V source on your adapter
- If you still don’t get output, source the proper 3.5mm A/V adapter for your vehicle
- If you do not get output: try using a different known good A/V source on your adapter
